James Card has been a Braintree District resident for all but 2 years of his life. James is passionate about young people being given equal opportunity through employment opportunities and access to sport. He is a general sports fan but particularly hockey and distance running and is running/ hobbling through a marathon later this year. He works as a Chartered tax adviser. His main priorities are:
Promoting access to exercise for all: Having been involved with Braintree Hockey Club for the last 19 years as a player/ umpire/ coach/ committee member at various points, he's enjoyed watching the opportunity given to a large youth section as well as the launch of walking hockey and disability inclusive hockey. He firmly believes local sport should be inclusive to all.
Promoting a Greener Essex - After the last year of intermittent lockdowns and local restrictions, some light relief has been found by being able to take exercise. Being both more pleasant and safer for people with young kids and dogs, he believes passionately in preserving public green space as well as our carbon neutral policies.
Employment Opportunities - Having seen through his profession the impact of the pandemic on people's employment prospects, he supports providing access to employment and retraining opportunities provided through locally accessible schemes.
