Essex County Council fail to take action on dangerous potholes

Lesley and Jessica point to dangerous potholesLiberal Democrat activist Lesley Scott-Boutell was told off by Essex County Council for reporting potholes too many times. The potholes in question are near the Winstree Rd/Holly Rd junction and are hard for road-users to see. They have been marked up in orange for over 3 months. This means that they should be repaired within 5 working days and this has not happened.
Lesley bumped into the Essex County Council Highway inspector on site, who said it was dangerous and re-painted the defect again in orange paint. When chasing it yet again she was told, "Regrettably, repeated contact about this matter will not result in the escalation of the priority of this defect. We can confirm that the next annual safety inspection will take place in March 2017 and if there has been any deterioration this will be identified at this time."
Bizarrely the potholes are still not shown on the ECC web-page for known highway defects. Also, bizarrely, Lesley's suggestion to repair them at the same time as the road was closed for speed bump re-alignment was refused.
