Lib Dems Supporting Witham's Real Ale Festival

Real Ale, Beer Festival

Members of Braintree & Witham Liberal Democrats were pleased to be able to support Witham's recent 'Real Ale Festival' in Witham Public Hall.

The event, held in association with the Campaign for Real Ale, saw the show-casing of over 30 real ales, ciders and perries in the historic public hall building, and was very well-attended by real ale fans from around the Witham area.

Former LibDem Town Councillor, Barry Fleet, was one of the organisers, as an enthusiast of real ales and also a key member of the team that have made the now community-ownded Witham Public Hall such as successful venue. Local Lib Dem activist, Laura Thurimella, also attended the event on Saturday night.

Laura said, "It is so heartening that Witham Public Hall is being well-used to host such good community events. I particularly enjoyed tasting the beers produced by the local Essex breweries including Witham's very own 'The Beer that has No Name'."

Lib Dem activists have long been strong supporters of independent breweries, and whilst in Government, secured historic protection for landlords of pubs tied to 'big breweries' to get more choice over the beers they supply.
