On the 12th December vote for Dominic Graham in Braintree and Sam North in Witham for a brighter future.

Liberal Democrat Policies:

Brexit- The best way to protect jobs and preserve vital public services is to STOP BREXIT. If we win a majority in the next parliament, Lib Dems will revoke Article 50 and end this period of instability in our country.

Environment -The Liberal Democrats will crack down on air pollution and invest in renewable energy, creating green jobs across the UK. This is a global emergency. We will work in the EU to lead on this emergency and protect our planet.

NHS - The Liberal Democrats are the only party with a clear plan for the NHS and social care. We will build a better health and care system that is prepared for the future and provides quality care for patients and respects our health workforce. Under our plan, the health and care services will be there for you and your loved ones when they need it, and won't have to stretch budgets to breaking point.

Education -Our plan will ensure children from all backgrounds have the education they deserve, giving them the best chance in life, and make sure teachers can get back to teaching our children.

Economy and Business- Liberal Democrats will harness the innovation of British business and demand multinational corporations pay their fair share in taxation.
We will fight for good paying, secure jobs where workers are not held back by discrimination, inequality or a lack of training.

Communities- Liberal Democrats will reverse Conservative welfare policies that target the poor and vulnerable, recruit more community police officers and tackle the housing crisis by building 300,000 new homes each year, improving rights for renters and increasing funding for local authorities to prevent homelessness.

Both the Conservatives and Labour are stuck in the past. They have had years to build a brighter future and yet too often they are fixated on tribalism, beholden to big business interests, foreign governments and the unions.

Only the Liberal Democrats can build a brighter future for us all.

The time and effort you give is what makes our party tick and without you, we couldn't achieve the change at every level of government we all are fighting for. We hope you find this page useful as you prepare for the 2020 local elections.

As you know, there are hundreds of local and regional elections happening in England and Wales in May this year, including Council, Mayoral and Police & Crime Commissioner elections.

They present us with an excellent opportunity to make huge gains across the country, and for your local party to make a big impact in your local area.

Liberal Democrats have long demanded fundamental reforms to the distribution of power: proportional voting, decentralisation, an elected second chamber.

Sadly, electoral reform has been lacking entirely from the Labour party's leadership contest. That's why, this week, I've written to the three remaining Labour leadership candidates, urging them to ditch our broken voting system in favour of proportional representation.

The Liberal Democrats are working hard to tackle the big issues that people are facing across the UK.

✔︎ Ensuring a properly resourced NHS, to provide the highest quality care for our loved ones

✔︎ Fighting to reverse police cuts, to protect our communities from violent crime

✔︎ Protecting our environment. We've already done more to fight the climate emergency than any other party

The first time you go canvassing can feel daunting. For many people, going up to a stranger's door, knocking, and starting a conversation isn't something they do every day. They don't often ask people about how they want things to change, in their neighbourhood or across the country as a whole.

More than 1 in 4 of us will experience depression, anxiety or stress this year. Almost every family will be affected.

Chelmsford City Council is calling for a review of fireworks safety and more controls around their sale and use to protect wild, domestic and farm animals, the natural environment and people adversely affected by their misuse.

The Liberal Democrat led Council is working towards safer Chelmsford and believes that Government policy on the sale and use of fireworks must be reviewed as a matter of urgency. The recent full council meeting passed (with cross-party support) a motion lobbying the Government.

Today, Ed Davey and I have written to the Prime Minister, calling for him to reverse plans to scrap the BBC licence fee.

The British Press is by no means without criticism, but at its best, the BBC remains a beacon of independent journalism as well as high-quality entertainment. That's why Liberal Democrats will fight tooth and nail to save it. Read our letter in full below:
